About Me

PADI IDC Staff Instructor

In 1999, PDS lived in Michigan and to get away from the cold we took a trip down to Cancun, Mexico.  While out there we decided to take a scuba diving adventure.  We got a crash course in scuba diving.  The crash course happened on a 25 minute boat ride to the dive site.  Our experience was terrible because 25 minutes lecture was definitely not enough to get  a diver prepared for open water dives.

Fast forward 12 years to 2011 when PDS summed up courage to try scuba diving again.  This time we were in St. Lucia and PDS tried the resort course.  PDS instantly fell in love with scuba diving - so much so that i spent the rest of my vacation studying the PADI Open Water manual.  PDS got PADI Scuba Diver Certified on that trip.

On getting back to the United States and talking to my colleague, i realized that PADI Scuba Diver certification is the lowest certification  level offered by PADI and that a certified diver needed to accompany me whenever i go diving.  Later that year in December, i headed down to Cayman Island where i got my PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications.

All my vacations ever since 2011 have been to one Caribbean Island or the other.  My diving trips have taken me to Cancun - Mexico, St. Lucia, Cayman Island, Antigua, Dominican Republic, Bonnaire, Negril - Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Roatan - Honduras, Bahamas.

There are still some dive locations on my wish list like Belize, Galapagos Island, Great Barrier Reef - Australia, etc.

I have had a great experience diving and learning about the sport.  I have taken one training or the other and continue to train some more.  In December, 2015 I became a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.  A few months after that and after certifying 25 divers i became an MSDT, Master Scuba Diver Trainer.  In December, 2016 i became and IDC Staff instructor.  Next on my sight is Master Instructor.  My plan is to achieve that goal on or before December, 2018. I love meeting new divers and nothing brings me more joy than converting a novice into an avid diver - spread the bug!  I love teaching people how to scuba dive from beginners to advance divers.  I get to share my love of diving with everyone who is interested.  My favorite part of teaching is getting to introduce new divers to the sensation of taking their first few breaths underwater.  I get to teach my students how to be safe and courteous divers who will enjoy the undersea world, and preserve it for the next generation of divers.

I am a volunteer State of Maryland certified EMT-B, Fire Fighter and a Public Safety Diver for my local Volunteer Fire Department.

Take a look at my class list and let me introduce you to, or expand the world of scuba diving.
